Light from satellites will ruin majority of some space telescope images, study says

The Hubble Space Telescope drifts through space in a picture taken from the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1997. A study finds reflections cast by satellites could ruin images taken by telescopes.

Astronomers have long been concerned about reflections from satellites showing up in images taken by telescopes and other scientific instruments.
